In the case of an automatic shotgun, the vole is not killed by a mechanical blow, as is the case with conventional traps, but by the high gas pressure of a special cartridge, which kills the animals immediately. The loaded device is placed, set and secured with the mouth in the exposed vole outlet. After a short time, the vole will try to re-close the entrance, as it doesn't like light or fresh air. The voles can still be placed in front of the self-launching device, which often leads to failure in conventional cases. This does not matter, however, with the Kiefer's self-shooting machine. The high gas pressure of the high-performance special cartridges cal. 9 x 17 yellow kills the vole even through 5 cm of earth and often hurls it 30 cm back in the hole.
